What to Expect
St. Peter Lutheran Church
I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1
At St. Peter, we joyfully gather to worship and praise our gracious God. We hear God’s holy Word, sing songs, confess our sins, receive forgiveness, and grow in our faith. We are a family in Christ. We would love to have you join us!
How do I Know What to Do?
We will do our best to help you follow along. Printed worship folders and hymnals include order of Service, hymns, and Bible readings. The service is also projected on the screen in front. It’s ok to just listen and participate when you feel comfortable. Lutheran worship is specifically designed to allow everyone to participate. Many parts of our service have ancient roots in the Christian Church. Some are very recent. Everything is meant to point us to Jesus, our Savior.
What About Kids?
We know children are a blessing from our God and we want them to worship with us. You may hear a cry of a baby mixed in with hymn singing or a Bible reading. What a gift to hear those young voices! If at any time you feel the need to step out with your child, we have spaces available in the library, downstairs, and even the Narthex. We also offer Children’s sermons on the first Sunday to help explain what they will be hearing during the main sermon.
What about Accessibility?
When you enter the Narthex on the west side of the church there is an elevator available for use. There is also a ramp located on the east side that leads directly into the church. We also have a hearing loop system that can connect the microphones directly to many hearing aids.
What About Communion?
We offer Communion on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. We practice close communion here at St. Peter. If you are a confirmed member of a WELS or ELS church, we invite you to join us. Otherwise, we ask that you speak to one of our pastors before joining us for communion. This is not a judgment against you or your personal faith, we just think that it isn’t fair for us to expect you to profess what we believe by joining us without first being instructed in what we believe.
What do I do after Worship?
Our Pastor will be in the back of the church greeting people. We invite you to stay and visit with our members. We offer coffee hour, and Bible Hour for Adults and Kids after the 8:00 service on Sunday. We hope you will join us.
Do I Have to Sign Anything?
Not if you don’t want to. But if you do want us to get to know you, or would like our Pastor to contact you, please sign our fellowship registers located at the end of each pew.
Do I Have to Dress Up?
You will see people dressed up and people in jeans. Come however you are comfortable—the important thing is that you are hearing God’s Word.
How Long Does a Service Last?
Our services typically last between an hour and 70 minutes.
